Indeed it is the only thing that ever has."  -Margaret Mead

Citizens for One Kirkland

We've always been one community.  It's time we became one city.

Tale of Two "Kirklands"

This is a tale of two "Kirklands".  Both "Kirklands" enjoys the great qualities that the Community of Kirkland have to offer.  A good place to work, great recreation opportunities, and a sense of one community.  Both "Kirklands" shop in the City of Kirkland, many work in the City of Kirkland, and both support the City of Kirkland through taxes and participation.

Both "Kirklands" say that they are from Kirkland, the character of the neighborhoods of both "Kirklands" are the same, and the level of citizen participation is the same.

However, one of the "Kirklands" receives support from the King County while the other receives help from both King County and the City of Kirkland.  One of the "Kirklands" pays a higher tax rate (guess which one) and receives less service while the other pays a lower rate while enjoying the efficiencies of a more responsive government.

However, there are issue that effect both "Kirklands".  Growth, environment, transportation, quality of life are all important things that both "Kirklands" have in common.

Lets do the right thing, become one Kirkland!
